Malvasia is usually a light golden or green hue, often with a slightly pale straw color, which is typical of fresh wine.
- Aroma:
It has distinctly fruity and floral aromas. Citrus notes such as lemon and orange are usually detected, as well as scents of green apples, peaches and honey. Floral notes such as orange blossom or acacia are often present.

- Taste:
On the palate, Malvasia is usually fresh, medium-bodied and very harmonious. It has a nicely balanced acidity that gives the wine a lively and refreshing feel. The taste can be slightly mineral, which is a result of the Istrian terroir.
In some cases, especially in organically produced wines, we can also detect slightly more "wild" notes, which are characteristic of minimal intervention in production.
- Acidity and body:
The acidity is medium high, which gives the wine a characteristic fresh and clean taste.
The body can be medium to medium full, which means that the wine has enough structure, but remains light and refreshing.
- Alcohol content:
The alcohol content of Istrian Malvasia is usually between 12% and 13% vol., which is typical for this variety.
